Club update - August 2026

Welcome to the Guildford Thunder blog, where we share the latest news and updates from our club, from match results to fun socials and everything in between!

Summer season
The quieter summer months are almost at an end, but have no fear! We still have a couple more training sessions outdoors at Guildford County School this month before we return indoors in September - if you’re interested in coming along, pop us a message through our contact form or through Instagram; everyone is welcome!

Looking ahead to the 2026/27 season, which kicks off at the end of September, we have our team trials on Sunday 6th and Sunday 13th September at Guildford County. Whether you’re a seasoned korfball pro, on your university placement year, or looking for something new with zero experience, we would love you to come and have a go. We’ll have three teams this year and team trials are for everyone who would like to be a part of Guildford Thunder, so the more the merrier!

Summer tournaments
Throughout the summer, we’ve had lots of fun attending korfball tournaments hosted by Nomads, Croydon, and Oxford. Always a great day out - and even better when the sun is shining - summer tournaments are an opportunity to keep up your skills during the off-season and get the chance to play against a wider range of teams from across multiple leagues. Thanks to John for leading the organisation of our attendance this summer!

2026/27 club committee
Earlier this year we voted in our new committee for 2026/27 - our club only runs thanks to work both in front of and behind the scenes from a bunch of very helpful people:

Chair - Will H
Vice Chair - Rachael
Secretary - Liz
Treasurers - Lawrence & Will D
Safeguarding Officer - Naomi
Fixtures Secretary - Michael
Social Media & Recruitment Officer - Rob F
Kit Officer - Ben

Our committee is responsible for the wellbeing and happiness of all club members - if you’re interested in finding out more about korfball, reach out to us and one of our friendly team will be in touch!
